Carlinhos Brown is a prolific songwriter, and the many artists who have performed his
compositions is a list of who's-who in Brazilian music that includes Caetano Veloso, Marisa Monte,
Gal Costa, Cássia Eller, Daniela Mercury, and Daúde.
His role as leader of the percussion group Timbalada overlapped with his own solo career which launched
in 1996 with the highly recommended album Alfagamabetizado.
