From the Cover
Stan Getz was the foremost American interpreter of that distinctive mix of Brazilian rhythm and cool jazz known as bossa nova. Antonio Carlos Jobim was its foremost composer. When Getz played Jobim, the results were magical. This collection, culled from six of the bossa nova albums Getz recorded in the 1960s, features definitive renditions of some of Jobim's best-known compositions, including "Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars," "How Insensitive," and Getz's all-time biggest hit, "The Girl From Ipanema." Among the people helping him make this beautiful music are Charlie Byrd, Gary Burton, and such Brazilian stars as Astrud and João Gilberto and Antonio Carlos Jobim himself.
